Elio and David Contigiani founded their leather goods company in 1985 at Mogliano Marche, Italy. As the business grew in the early 90’s it was clear that there was a need to develop branding. The family name “Contigiani” seemed too long and difficult to pronounce abroad so it was modified and reversed to become Giani Conti and then perfected with the extra “n”. The addition of the “man figure” as part of the logo was rendered necessary to distinguish the company from other potential Gianni Conti namesakes.
The very first handbags produced were patchwork designs which were so popular that more than 1000 pieces were made every day to satisfy demand. Following this success, Gianni Conti started introducing some classic hide collections ranging from travel bags to small leather goods, ladies handbags, briefcases, key cases and even slippers. In recent times the design team has developed more casual and fashion lines to appeal to younger consumers.
